Dr. P. N. Singh Foundation
situated at Vakola, Santacruz (E.), Mumbai,
running successful1y since last seven years,
headed by Dr. P. N. Singh, Management Expert,
current Chairperson of Grid consultants Pvt.
Ltd., Mumbai. The Foundation has been initiated
by the personal donation of 11.5 Lakh from Dr.
P. N. Singh, It's aim is to develop and upgrade
the underprivileged classes of Mumbai especially
children. The Leaders of Tomorrow Project
for school children is; the major-project of
the Foundation which is running successfully
at several schools in Mumbai. The project
consists of on~ year leadership training to
IX standard students coming from economically
disadvantaged segments of the society. It aims
at developing self-confidence and improving
self-worth in participants so that they are
prepared to assume leadership positions in professions
they choose. Subjects included in the course
are personality development, creativity, goal
setting values & beliefs etc, In Patuck
School in Vakola, this course is being run for
the sixth year in succession with complete support
from the Principal.
Dr. P. N. Singh Scholars :
with the availability of additional resources,
it is planned to select in a phased manner 200
\ students from class 7th to 10th as Dr. P.
N. Singh Scholars from Schools located in VAKOLA
01'} the basis of merit from economically disadvantaged
segments of the society. On selective basis,
these scholars will be given scholarship to
pay fees, purchase books : etc. In addition,
all scholars will be given career guidance and
will be put through one-year leadership course
under the Foundation's Leaders of Tomorrow Project
when they reach 9th-standard. The Foundation
will keep their basic records and provide guidance
and assistance, wherever possible, for these
scholars to succeed in life. However, the scholar's
initiative and interest in learning and, development
coupled with their parental support will be
vital for their success, which will give happiness
to the founder and trustees of the foundation.
This scheme will be implemented in collaboration
with Vakola Schools. Career Guidance: 50 students
(income group no bar) studying in 1st, 2nd &
3rd year B.A., B.Com., or B.Sc. from Vakola
will be selected for career guidence by the
Foundation in collaboration with Dr. P. N. Singh
Centre for HRD based in Santacruz (E.) They
will not only be given personal guidance but
also be allowed to attend self-development programmes
as per the specific needs of the individual.
Those selected will be expeced to support Foundation’s
activities in Vakola by giving a few hours of
voluntary work every month.
